Margie:
On week ten with shingles, skin still burning/crawling/stinging/itching but less now. There is a shot ( valacyclovir), if given w/in 48 hrs, stops the outbreak, but not the pain. Docs give Vicodin for pain, causes constipation, stomach pain and nodding off. Then prescribed Nuerontin, works pretty good (was able to wear a shirt again), although prescribed dose knocked me silly, until I cut it to 1/3. Also relieve pain by: ice packs, hot packs, vibration from a Sonicare toothbrush, nurse recommended a massager. Now that I've broken out, despite IBM, am now candidate for the inoculation after 9 mos. There's always something new w/IBM, never boring. ??? |
