Arava....

I saw my Dermatologist today. She is adding Arava to my list of meds. She is hoping the addition will enable me to reduce my prednisone further. I am at 17 mgs and still fighting flares. It was all I could do to drag myself to work last week. On Saturday I just laid on the couch all day, I didn't even have the strength to feed my dog. I have been slowly getting worse, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this will help. If anyone else has any experience with Arava I'd love to hear about it. Thanks again everyone.

Hi Frankie, long time no write huh?? Sorry to hear that they are placing you on yet another prescription. Hopefully it will work alright for you. I tend to agree with all the others - allergies are high this year. Believe it or not I had throat problems recently and they prescribed clariton AND amoxicillin - can you believe that. I would've never thought about allergies affecting my throat. I had a hard time swallowing, painful/red throat. I am supposed to see a pulmonary doctor this Thurs after which my Rheumy and he are to get together - discuss my case and then put me back on methotrexate.

Take care and God bless

Vickie

Morning, Frankie -

At the support group meeting it was great seeing you and to meet your fine husband. He and I talked about television and the recent changes on Channel 11. Being on TV for 25 years I'm sorry I could only wave across the room as both of you were leaving as the room was so crowded. I thought Dr. Nations was wonderful in her explanations the individuals asked. No lengthy medical jargon, just plainly understood answers.

You are very blessed to have such a supportive husband. It is quite evident that he loves you greatly.

I was afraid you might be feeling rough because you had't being posting. I've had my hands full and didn't take the time to email you directly. I'm sorry.

I'm fighting to beat the clock at each turn of my head. Trying to get the Houston medical center information for the new book and the new Neuopathy & Myositis Support Group; having my own health problems, having to be in Dallas one Wednesday and in Houston the next Wednesday has been time consuming as well. I will be in Houston for about four-five days the second week of June (at the expenses of the medical center for hotel, dinners, traveling, etc.)

I had just nearly completed the June issue of the newsletter when Dr. Shaibani called, wanted to add something which means I have to re-design the page layouts, etc.

Also the nursing home called Monday night saying Mom has Pneumonia. With Altzheimer's, she hasn't recognized me in 2.5 years. I completed all the facts/data needed should she pass away and I only have one phone call to make and give them the packet of data for the funeral, etc.

In addition to that, this morning I got (I feel is a scam email) from AOL, saying my website had been hacked (my virus and firewall hasn't detected anything) and they want me to fill out another application, asking for new credit card numbers and the extent of my credit limits on the cards, even my SS#. Do I have DUMB or FOOL imprinted on my forehead? I sent the information to Kelly to handle because he would know who to notify at AOL.

Hang in there, Frankie. We all miss you when you don't post. Keep us informed, please. - Jim

Thanks so much Jim. Brian is wonderful and I am very lucky to have him. We enjoyed the meeting and were sorry we had to leave before it was over. We had to leave to get ready for my son John's Military Ball. He is a senior so this was the first time he could have us attend with him. He was awarded "Superior Cadet" for his senior year. It was a fun evening and I am so very proud of him. John was accepted to TCU and he will attend there in the fall. Please take care of yourself. I know you have a lot going on. I'm looking forward to the next book as well. I'm glad you have Kelly to look into that strange email for you. I'm sorry to hear about your mother, I hope she doesn't suffer. Take care of yourself and I'll post when I can. I'm hoping the Arava will help me out. I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired. Take care and thanks again for all you do.

Frankie
