Haven't Had A Bath In 2 Years :-(

Posted by Jack in Phila.-IBM ® , 2001/03/27, 22:37:35   Archive
Some husbands are kicked out of bed for this kind of
personal hygiene.

Others are called the name,"Pigs", and nagged.

But its true. TWO YEARS.

I fell down getting out and I ain't ever taking a bath again in our dear old original equipment 1900 claw foot tub.

All this is leading to a recommendation for a shower
seat.

The good word, Thunderbird, is RUBBERMAID.

Its big and wide and white plastic ugly with built-in
handles and giant adjustable rubber foot pads and
the're ain't a piece of metal in it. All edges smooth
and rounded.

It is simply the strongest and the best.

This is the big model. There is a smaller one.

Tha name "Pigs" is only heard when it ain't used
often enough. That would be three times a day if we
let these females run things.

Right, Jim?

I was looking through my memoribia *sp* and came across a photo of my ole friend, Jack, back in the days when he had the courtesy of smelling his armpits for others' sake.

Oh, Snuzzy, how did you know this was going to be my next question?!? Tub's been out of the picture, and now I can't stand up long enough for a shower, especially when I wash my hair (priss, priss).

Hi Susan: I've not been in a bath tub in years. I keep telling my husband that I want to add on to our bedroom so that we can have a nice whirlpool put in and I definitely would need a lift. But until we do this, if we do this, I must rely on my trusty shower chair which truly has been a godsend. Take care Susan and everyone else on this board.
Sincerely,
Helen.

boy do i miss jumping into the shower whenever i want..now that too is a production that needs planning as i cannot wash, dry or dress myself safely or competently anymore..what a drag....i give all credit to people who deal with disabilities and still go out into the business world properly attired and ready for work.... at least i have the luxury, like jim says , of staying in my comfort zone in comfy clothes..keep on scrubbin' jack....Ann

Jack -

Brad(IBM) told recently of an elderly gentleman that was in his support group, slipped and fell in his bath room. He never regained consciousness.

Bathtubs are very dangerous, especially for IBM patients. Even standing in the shower, leaning against the wall for support, gets scary at times.

How do you like the new website? - so much easier to get around the sites.

Hi Jack,

I'd take the garden hose to you.Just kidding!!

I have a rechargeable Bathmaster. It fits in your tub and lifts and lowers you by pushing a button.I have the extra long side flap that fits over the rim of the tub.No stepping in just sit down and turn into the tub.Bubble baths once again!! It's rather expensive but worth every penny.

Hi Ann,

Thanks for getting the site link.I really don't like baths but after a few slippery falls in the shower I learned to like them.It helps to light a candle, bubble bath, and music.

The weather is fantastic here.I wish I could go for a walk.Oh well.

Hello everyone -

On Tuesday, Mar. 27, 2001, we had 102 posts after subtracting several personal and business emails - 102 direct hits to the Myositis Support Grou;. That is the highest we ever had.

Also on Tuesday, we had the largest number of newly registered people in one day that we have ever had.
All of you are to be thanks for making this website so successful and so easy to love all the people in the group.

Lucille and I will have our 48th Anniversary today. We're having Kelly, our webmaster and dear friend, to update our computers even though they are about a year old. He came over Tuesday evening, shared a bowl of homemade beef and vegetable soup and chocolate cheesecake with us.

48 years - just hope I live to see the 50th.

Remember: All of you are loved - Jim and Lucille

Welcome, Kaye -

You honor us by coming to our website to exchange ideas and information, security, comfortable and in a family-type atmosphere.

You will find our site is much different than any previous Myositis sites across the country. We are the first to use the latest program that allows up to 10 BBs on one site.

Please feel free to visit any of the other rooms by just clicking a bottom to that Board.

We offer the ability to send emails directly to each other (if that person has registered with an email address) just by clicking on their name, going to their profile, then clicking the name again. Automatically an addressed email is ready for you to write your message. Such emails can not be viewed by anyone else on the website.

So, welcome, Kaye - you are among wonderfuly Myositis people who have such understanding and compassion in helping each other.

Thank you so much! I have enjoyed browsing around and reading the posts. I hope that we can all find causes and treatments for these diseases so we can control these strange symptoms and pains. Spring is a bad time for me. I hope that we can all help each other. Happy anniversary and thank you for this new site. God bless all of you.

Kaye -

Thank you for your message. Mighty good thinking you offer.

Having this type of discussion forum so that those with dx Myositis disease having their own room has had a tremendous reception.

Please visit all the rooms and HOME. There is much to read, pictures, information about the Myositis book, many things of interest to those dealing with Myositis.

Visit often - and know that you are among real friends who can share their experiences. Post often or answer posts; you will be surprised at the response from the members.
