Troponin T

When I had my last routine monthly blood tests, they also ran a test of Troponin T an enzyme which is supposed to indicate heart attacks..they do it routinely in Aus if CK levels are elevated. Mine was very elevated, not the CK it was under 400. This happened to me once before and after a lot of tests in hospital,it resulted in the diagnosis of polymiositis, and the heart muscle was quite OK. Has anyone else had this experience? I am off to the cardiologist today with absolutely no cardiac symptoms except the zipper scar from bypass 11 years ago.

COUSIN,

I am really very glad that you take care of yourself conscientiously( what a word, cousin, there you see how I care about you, struggling with these words!!)Leo had his first heartattack in 1969 and is doing fine, but because he took care of himself. I am very happy that your tests came out so well also. A strong hug!!! your Edith.

Back from the cardiologist and the news is good. He checked me out thoroughly and said that the elevated enzyme was because of the myositis. Thought I'd let you know in case anyone else had a scare. He said I was wise to check it out, but not to worry if it showed up in future path results. Silly old disease, isn't it?

Hi Mary,

I had no elevated Tronponin T enzyme levels, that I know of but my liver values were high. You better get it all checked out and let everyone know how your doing.

Hugs,
Jan
