80lbs of dog on your lap! WOW. When I used to be able to sit on the floor my German Shorthair, 54lbs., would sit on my lap. She was quite boney too so it would get uncomfortable. Him wanting the ice cream brough back memories of our Maggie jumping up when we would go to WI and stop at one of their soft serve ice cream places and get one of the big waffle cones. She just could not contain herself when it came to ice cream.
Sounds like you were having some nice reflective moments on your porch. You made some very good comparisons. We have a screen porch now and it's really nice sitting out there. Having IBM though makes one have to bring out all sorts of stuff in order to sit and be able to get up. But at least I have a plan to work with.
Sorry you're having a flare right now. The one good thing is that it will subside and you will feel better. Give Donner a big 'ole hug. Our Maggie is gone now but she almost made it to 14 which is good for a purebred. Thank God for our pets, they help so much for us to deal with the hand we have been dealt. I have a Chartreux cat who is my constant companion. She has a great personality and loves the kids. She rides on the seat of my rollator all the time to the point I have to push her off in order to make dinner, etc. I use that seat for so many things and am grateful I have it to work with. To better days.
