Vic, At my worst I could not use my arms or legs at all. It took hydro therapy...lowering me in a harness with an electric winch into a pool with 2 therapists...to get me vertical again. I could not do exercises against gravity. could not stand up and would collapse in a heap if picked up and let go. I would say that my upper body was the most difficult to work on. However after 3.5 years my core muscles are still fairly weak. It does not show up in many things but I am currently working on improving core strength....upper legs, hips, lower back. My abs aren't too bad. Working with a trainer recently and he had me do lunges without any weights. They were hard to do and I could only do 2 sets of 15 and I felt it for several days. I can do up to 200lbs on a leg press or squat machine...4 sets of 16 reps so I was surprised at how weak I felt doing lunges. Since I have been able to ski I thought that strength had come back more....guess I was wrong. It seems that just when I think I have taken care of one area I find another area of deficiency. Well, it gives me something to do the rest of my life. Not easy to come back. All the things you described I had and much more. It is still painful for me to get in and out of a car....roll over in bed. My back and core are still weak and there seems to be quite a bit of adhesion in my back. Everything is fine as long as I don't move..... Bill Mixed connective tissue disease (lupus, scleroderma, polymyositis), Raynauds.
