This is my first time to post. I was dx about a year ago with a biopsy. I'm 56 and had just graduated from nursing school. So I was in denial a lot. Just figured I'd be very careful walking and wouldn't fall again. I had falls over the past 10 years but once a year or so and thought I was clumsy! But now I love my job as a L&D Nurse but just don't feel I can continue that job. I've already cut back from 12 hours shifts to 8 hours. And from full time to 2 days a week. But even though I'm so careful walking, I've fallen twice in the past 2 months, the second time being yesteday.
So I'm feeling down and thought I'd write. It's difficult to be constantly revising my life plans NOW. As I'm sure you all understand. So I'm studying to take the Lactation Consultant exam this July, which is a job I can do at least for a while. I have advised my supervisor of my dx and she's somewhat supportive. But says if I need a walker or wheelchair I can't work in the hospital because I'd be a hazard in a crisis. So my career options are limited and I can't afford to not work at all.
Is anyone else still working, any FT.
Thanks, feel better
