Arlene, by now, after approx 19 years both my hands are affected with very weak fingergrip, with the left hand being the weaker one. If you google sites that deal with help for arthritis or look into medical supply stores you can find all sorts of tools to help. I do have a small tool to help with buttons (but in general I avoid clothing with them) or I also use a zipper pull device. When it comes to slacks I gave up tailored ones with zippers long ago. In my book safety comes before vanity. OXO good grips has kitchen utensils that you may want to look into. Not everything works for everyone. Be inventive. For a while I had to use an "S" hook to help open my car door. Now driving has become another loss issue. Reaction time from gas to brake pedal was no longer safe. I am grateful that I am still able to shower and get dressed by myself even if it takes me forever to achieve that. I wish you well, Dagmar
