Hi Kathy!
I have been away for a while, but as a fellow Texan, we are kindred spirits! I am 54 and live outside Houston in League City, near NASA. I was dx with IBM about 4 yrs. ago after a 2nd. biopsy and thankfully, I've not fallen. My biggest issue is leg pain, and trust me, when someone tells you you're not supposed to have leg pain with IBM, they need to borrow my legs for a while! I am currently working part time as a receptionist for a ReMax agency, and it took me 3 tries and finally, an attorney, to get my disability. It was the most frustrating experience and to have to reapply and go through the entire process each time was a real pain in the nexk! The best thing to do is hire a Disability Attorney and they get paid a set fee from the state, so you pay nothing out of pocket. This support group is truly a wonderful place to vent and meet people from all over the world. People who are going through or have gone through the same issues you have, and really there are some people here who know so much more than the Drs. do about this disease! I have made WONDERFUL friends, true friends, from Canada, Italy and Australia among other places. Who would ever have thought I would be writing to someone who lives in Australia?! Well, I am and she understands what I'm dealing with better than my friends here in Texas. I also have been reading with great interest about Lithium and how it might be a great help for IBM.
