So...the doc gave me a prescription for methotrexate...not for the IBM, but for the Sjogrens. He did say that if I got lucky and it helped the IBM to let him know. After researching the med last night, I think I'm going to choose not to take it. He wasn't sure it woulod help the Sjogrens, either, and it looks like pretty evil stuff. So, I'll just leave it be.

(Just for the record, I also have Sjogrens,Raynaud's, and undifferentiated connective tissue disorder...although this may be the 'differentiation!' They also said I had reumatoid arthritis, but that joint damage could really be from the joints being pulled by atropied muscles.)

So, he's sending me to physical therapy, and wants the foot brace. He wants me to see a physical therapist up there for the first eval, then they can direct a local one. And he wants me to come back for monitoring annually, so I stay in their MDA clinic rolls. He said that way they can help me out with cost of a wheel and such.

And that's about it. I told family and friends who were aware of what's going on yesterday. The first one I spoke to was my younger sister, who I ended up having to comfort. After her, I just told folks, told them I didn't want to talk at the moment, and that I had bought myself a quart of organic chocolate milk to get drunk on (I bought hubby Belgian beer, but I don't drink alcohol) so I was going to go do it. The last person I spoke to was my mother in law, who said ,"So? Lots of people have chronic illness. Just deal with it." Since her second husband died of Parkinsons, I actually expected her to understand the difference between a chronic condition and a degenerative condition, better than most. Ah, well. Today, I tell my boss and a few chosen friends out of the department. The rest don't need to know at this point. And I guess that's about it.

My sheep flock is going up for sale...anyone want a cuddly lap-sheep?
