We learned about the easy pivot when Jim was in the hospital and were able to get a used one from a medical supply store. They set it up as a lease and medicare paid for it, for which we feel extremely fortunate. It allows one person to move another safely and with very little effort. Jim also started using a powerchair following that hospital stay so has needed assistance to be moved ever since. If Barb needs an assist to rise, you might try helping her with a gait belt - a nurse, OT, PT, or someone knowledgeable in the medical supply store could show you how it works to help lift someone and offer extra support when rising. Jim was able to rise himself only because his booster toilet seat had handles. After that, he needed, and still needs, personal assistance. He had to give up having full privacy in there.
Sure hope that helps some.
