I too am looking forward to Dr. Mendell's gene therapy. After listening to his presentation at the TMA convention last fall, I continue to believe that this approach for a treatment seems to hold much promise with some real hope for IBMer's. I think everyone needs to understand that what is coming up is going to be a human trial for a very complicated piece of research. I am looking forward to again attending the TMA convention this fall and listening to Drt. Mendell's presentation along with updates. If I get a chance I would be happy to participate in the trials.

Regarding the Lithium treatments, there have been numerous discussions regarding this treatment on both this web site and the TMA website. In addition there have been a number of human trials going on. The information coming back from most of those in the trials have not seemed to be very positive or encouraging. Having said this, I have not seen any published research regarding the researchers findings. From a personal standpoint with the information I have seen, I would not take lithium. This is in no way a medical opinion only mine, based on what I have read
