Hello Louise,

I don't know where you and your husband live. I am posting from Italy. I was blessed (!!!) becuase I had the first symptoms after then I was retired. So that I cannot immagine which should have been my life in the 40 years I worked. My diagnosis 1995 was 4 months after a bad colon cancer of my wife. Whilst she bettered I worsened and nowadays she is my real caregiver, my "Guardian Angel" even if since one year I must have a real caregiver, a very qualified Ukrainan caregiver. Among the other things she trys to recall in my mind the russian language I have studied in 1961/1962 when I should have gone to Russian for a plant. The plant was not builded and since than I haven't had any occasion to speak this language.
=h sorry, I forget your question. As I said many times here, we are not serial machines that is one can rise the stairs for many, many years and one after some years needd the lifter. I won't be crude, but till now, IBM is a disease without cure and the research go on with very short strides. Anyway I am enough sure that because your husband is young they can find a valid cure to slow or stop the progress.
Frim Italy I cannot give any useful advice but that of read as many as possible our personal statements in our profiles to learn how each of us had choiced the personal way to cope serene with IBM. Your husband must do all he can do until it is possible even if it should seem to begin difficult (I apologize for my autodidacte English)
Furthermore you both can find here SINCERE FRIENDS. I am in touch of many also via e-mail or real post. In spite of my English I am so proud to call them and it is for me very incouraging to hear the voice of a Myositis-mate even if understand 1 word on ten.
Post and you are sure to get replies, sometimes not so useful for the disease, but surely for the mood.
I want share with your husband one of my rulese: of a cake one must eat both the cherry on the life and the burned on the bottom. Oh no I ain't a preacher, at the contrary i was an engineer with the feet on the ground.
I add just that, as in my profile, I am born among the mountains unreachable for ever and am detined to die in the flat.........as late as possible

Love to you both
