Hi Everyone,
I haven't been here in quite some time, so it is nice to see so many familiar names. I'm hoping some of you may be able to answer some new questions I have. Before I was DX with IBM three years ago, I went through a period when my knees ached severely. I thought it must be arthritis, but wondered why it it didn't hurt to bend the knees. Eventually the aching pretty much stopped. In hindsight, I thought the aching might have been a period of degeneration of the quads. Recently, my glutes have been extremely sore (yes, my butt), and I've been wondering if this is what is happening. I know the medical profession seems to think IBM is painless, but many patients don't agree, so I would really like to know if anyone else has had similar experiences. I am also wondering if any of you tried the lithium trial and are still taking it. I was taking it until a month ago, but my doctor didn't think it was helping, so told me to stop. However, it wasn't expected to be a cure, only to hopefully slow down the progression, so I think its effectiveness may be hard to judge. I'm hoping the new stem cell research into muscle regeneration will yield some useful treatments soon! In the meantime, I'd really appreciate hearing from the real "pros"! Peace and love to all!
