Hi Caitlin: Believe me, your mom is blessed to have you. Caretakers are in fact our angels. Most in the IBM community have acknowledged the fact that most doctors know little about IBM. The consensus is that there is no cure at this time although there is cell therapy research being done at this time. Most IBM'ers try to think ahead and use the mobility aids that are available, some of which are available at a local MDA loan closet. Aids like a walker, canes, and others. Power scooters may be available and paid for by Medicare. Please don't beat yourself up. Continue to do the best you can to help mom. Even though your doc may not be too helpful with mom's IBM, he/she will be able to help with other health care issues. Stay positive. KJMarsala |
