I, too, have IBM and this July will complete 10yrs with it. Like all IBMers, i have gone through two muscle biopsies; the latest one confirming IBM. It was misdiagonised as Polymyosistis initially which in time i've realized is the regular course of IBM identification. Today i'm 95% physically dependent and dont have a powered wheelchair (somehow i can't bring myself to purchase one). But i do have a FANTASTIC family, a bunch of NEUROTIC friends who keep me sane and a job that keeps me distracted. I think i fair decently when it comes to attitude, just that being stubborn comes easy too .

However, there is a slight variation wrt my case. I contracted this when i was 18 and this June i turn 28. I'm sure i'm looking in the wrong places because i havent come across people who have acquired IBM at this age. So where am i not looking?

Do i need to mention i'm extremely high-strung somedays? My sadness is mostly coz i cant bear to see my mom suffer like this coz of me. Its not fair to her; she too isnt in the best of health but her spirits are amazing. Can you tell me what i can do to make it easy for her? Getting outside help isnt working very well for us. Hands keep changing and that just increases distress. I can't do any physical activity independently...

Apologies, i cant continue. I'd really appreciate it if you could suggest something. I want to make my mom's life easier.
