I received an e-mail on March 25 from The Myositis Association, to which I belong, that Dr. Brian Kaspar of Ohio State University, and Dr. Jerry Mendell, also of OSU and Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, OH (my personal doctor), have been successful in injecting the protein follistatin in muscles of IBM mice. They have applied to the FDA to have it approved for a possible clinical trial in humans. I have volunteered for any clinical trials, and will wait to hear from Dr. Mendell.
I have no idea how long it takes for FDA approval, but this sounds promising, so I will try to be patient. Diane
