Hello there and welcome to the website. In the old days, the thinking was that IBM was limited to people over 50. Now research has demonstrated that 20% of cases are now diagnosed before the age of 50. Dr. Engel in Los Angeles has described a few cases of sporadic IBM in juveniles but they are very rare. They would certainly be interested in you as a research subject. Alternatively, you may not have the sporadic form, you may have the hereditary type which is known to affect people very early -- as in your case. We have a lady from South Africa I think who is in her early 20s. There's far too much information on my website, I suggest you take some time and chew on it slowly.
