I just talked to the nurse about Lauren's blood test results from her last clinic visit. Her CK and aldose are normal, yet her % of b cells is still elevated. She is now going into her second month of twice weekly solumedral (600mg each session) with no near plans of reducing. This just seems so unusually aggressive to me! Can any of you who have had such an aggressive treatment in the beginning offer some hope? I'm really feeling overwhelmed. Lauren's recent eye exam showed slightly above normal eye pressure because of all the steroids. I know that the high dose steroids are necessary to treat her disease, yet I just don't know how much longer she can manage this high of a dosage without some serious consequences. I don't mean to sound like I'm doubting the doctor's orders. Like all of us, I just want to do what is ultimately the best for my daughter! Any advice or sharing of success stories is appreciated!
