Hi Janet,
That is a lot of Solumedral. My heart goes out to you. I know it can get overwhelming -- especially when you are watching them get pumped up with all these scary meds. There were times when I felt like Sarah's little body couldn't take any more too. You are right to question your doctor when you feel uncomfortable but I hope you'll be reassured when I tell you that Dr. Pachman knows JDM inside and out. She does so much resarch and has dealt with it for 30 years. Maybe it would help to talk to some of her patients who are in remission. That may offer you some hope that things will get better. It's just such a long process. When I read your post, I so wished you could have been at the forum in D.C. this weekend. It was so informative and answered a lot of questions. I learned this weekend that the B cells are key cells in JDM. When they are elevated, it means the disease is still active which lets them know that agressive treatment is still needed. I can't offer much more than that. I'll say a prayer for you and Lauren tonight. Take care. Michelle |
