We got home yesterday. This was a very rough hospital stay, as we are worn out. Dr. after dr. came in to "take a peek". Noey was in a lot of pain. Wed. she had swallow study, blood labs, x-rays, and a very long emg. The swallow study (neat test) showed she is high risk for aspiration since her muscles are not pushing all the food down & her tongue is not retracting as it should. Also a little nasal reflux showed. The emg was rough but she was given a sedative to "fuzz" the expirence. It showed muscle damage but more importantly that there is something going on with her nervous system. Thursday she had the mri and biopsy done together. A very long two hours! They did a muscle biopsy (thigh) and a nerve biopsy (by achilles tendon). finally she had more blood lads done. We should know all the results except the nerve biopsy this week sometime. The nerve can take up to 2 weeks. I am glad testing is over, for now. Hopefully our answer is pending. If you have any questions or comments feel free to ask. God Bless.
