Hi, I post once in a great while, Allie has had JDM since she was very young and she is 8 years old. We have been through the same problems with her and the needles. Child life was not a help, holding her down made it worse, her response would be horrible. I never ever left the the room, but one time when it took 5 nurses, I walked out, took a deep breath and walked back in. Allie has had her veins blown, etc. Through many years of counseling we found alle had post traumatic stress and all of this needle business made it worse. After many years of this I finally asked the DR. who was the best person for finding a good vien with out so many tries, he recommeded a nurse and we have had good luck with her and no problems. Allie knows her and walks in ok, This nurse very seldom misses the vien. She is now the only nurse that takes her blood or what ever involves a needle, this is at the childrens hospital. Allie now has confidence in this nurse who knows her. It is a blessing! I hope you find a solution for Grace. God Bless Allie's mom |
