My son was 10 when he went through the three solumedrol infusions. He had a very bad taste in his mouth that the doctors warned us would happen. The doctor recomended sour candy. The second infusion he did vomit and the next time they gave him Zofran with his last IV infusion to prevent nausea. They also started him on 60 mg of steroids at the same time. He gained wt(about 20 lbs.) very quickly and was ravenous and a little moody. As they lower the steroids they increase the methotrexate (usually to shots) and blood draws every two weeks. It has been 1 year and 9 months but last week he went off all meds!! He is skinny and very healthy. He is still getting blood draws every three weeks but that shouldn't last to long hopefully. Just take it one week at a time and you will get through this. Good Luck.
