I'm a 17 year old who was diagnosed with JDM. Lately I've had a lot of trouble swallowing. Before it seemed like I could swallow fine it was just a little harder while I was on 60mg of Prednisone daily. A month later my cpk value still wasn't normal so they increased to 90mg daily and a few weeks after that my swallowing seem to get a lot worse. After they increased to 90mg my cpk has become normal and they are tapering it now and I'm taking 75mg a day now and have been doing so for about a week. I'm not sure if it is the prednisone or the dermatomyositis that is affecting my swallowing but I'm just curious if anyone else had similar problems and if anything helped.
