Mike, many folks that had the first diagnosis of PM who do not seem to respond to the prescribed medicines have later been diagnosed as having IBM. Please have your doctor look into this possibility. It does require a second biopsy. This had happened to me but I only questioned the PM diagnosis after having been on Prednisone and Methotrexate for more than 8 years. I wish I had known sooner.
