You may find it interesting to read up on my story on my web page http://www.myomusings.com I first had the dx of PM and after 8 years of treatment that did not improve my situation I was finally diagnosed with IBM. Your friend should try to learn as much as possible about the myositis diseases. Sadly many doctors are not as up to date with the info as you assume them to be.
