Hi DeAnna, I was going to keep my 2 cents out of this but I can't. Just ask your rheumy how many people he's treated who have myositis. My rheumy is my age, 59, and in his career has treated 150 people with PM. The prednisone drop is way too fast. And, do not start any physical therapy until you know your cpk count. If you start working on those muscles while the PM is real active, you can damage good muscle tissue. If you can do water aerobics, that would be doable but don't do anything real strenuous. And, Lady, it sounds like you are doing too much. I realize you want to run with the good days but we warned you that if you overdo, you will pay for it. The cane is a great idea. I haven't really used mine in 2 years now, except when I know I have to deal with uneven surfaces. I was using it a lot and then felt I was becoming too dependent. I got myself a gussied up purple colored cane with flowers hand painted on it, with my initials. I figured if I was going to use something like that, I was going to do it with some class. I had a lot of people ask where I got the cane and wanted to order one for someone they knew. Keep in mind the cane is temporary but it will give you a lot more confidence. My ankles are real bad. I have absolutely no reflexes left in either one. Slow down a bit, will 'ya!
